How the Tour Works

Your adventure begins when the Canopy Safari bus picks you up from your hotel in Manuel Antonio or Quepos. The scenic drive into the mountains offers beautiful views of rainforest, rivers and rural landscapes before arriving at the private property where the tour takes place.

Once you reach the base camp, the staff welcomes you, provides a safety briefing, fits your equipment and prepares you for the adventure. The canopy route includes a combination of ziplines, rappels, trails and platforms, all guided by certified professionals.

The activity flows at a comfortable pace, allowing you to enjoy the rainforest, spot wildlife and experience each element safely and confidently. At the end of the tour, you return to the restaurant for fruit, drinks or a traditional meal (depending on your schedule) before heading back to your hotel.

Adventure Elements

Rappelling

Experience two exciting rappels framed by lush rainforest scenery. Guided by certified instructors, each descent is controlled, safe and designed to give you an authentic adventure with complete confidence.

Canopy Platforms

Move between 21 platforms connected by 10 ziplines, trails and canopy bridges. Each stop offers different perspectives of the forest and is managed by a team member to ensure a smooth, safe experience.

Safety First

Canopy Safari has operated since 1997 with a flawless safety record. All guides are certified, the equipment is industry-standard, and every participant receives a complete safety orientation before starting the tour.

Tarzan Swing

A fun and safe swing between platforms that adds an extra moment of adrenaline and excitement during your canopy adventure. Always supervised and suitable for most guests.

Hanging Bridge

Walk across a beautiful rainforest bridge suspended among the trees. A calm, scenic moment during your adventure, perfect for enjoying the views.

Superman Line

Fly face-down in a specialized harness for a full-body flight sensation. This is the most thrilling element of the tour and a favorite among guests.

Recommendations

For this tour, we recommend wearing comfortable, practical clothing. Closed shoes are mandatory for safety.

Because of the altitude and the shaded rainforest environment, you won’t find many mosquitoes or insects, so bug spray is usually not necessary. You will spend most of the time under the canopy, which means limited sun exposure, so sunscreen is optional.

If you would like to tip your guides or purchase photos at the end of the tour, we recommend bringing cash — either US dollars or the local currency (colones).

Other than that, all you need is your adventurous spirit and plenty of Pura Vida. The rest will be taken care of by the Canopy Safari team.

This tour was amazing. Takes about an hour to drive into the jungle but once you get there it’s beautiful and the zip lines are awesome. You finish off with a rappel into the bottom of a waterfall (not deep)….. and then they have lunch ready for you before the drive back down. Very well put together. Great guides.

We were fortunate to book through Canopy Safari, and they did not disappoint. While transportation is provided, we had our own vehicle and the drive to the site set the tone for the adventure. Traveling through palm plantations, past farms and river basins, crossing bridges, made the experience feel authentic and natural as we worked our way into the jungle. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and energetically by the staff. Roy and Dennis were the first we met, and although Spanish is their first language, their English was excellent and communication was effortless. They guided us through the butterfly aviary, pointed out various snakes, and shared detailed and interesting information along the way, even introducing us to three crocodiles before fueling us with delicious, ripe local fruit and making sure everyone was hydrated. Then the real adventure began. We’ve zip-lined in Whistler, Canada, and other locations, all of which were fantastic, but this experience was truly a gem. The combination of zip lines, rappelling, and an incredible Tarzan swing made it unforgettable. Throughout the entire experience, our three guides Roy, Dennis, and Dylan were outstanding. Dylan captured amazing photos and videos, while Roy and Dennis ensured everyone felt completely safe and comfortable on the platforms and lines. Their professionalism, calm confidence, engaging conversations, and genuine connection with both us and our kids made a huge difference. The included meal was authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious, well deserved after burning so much energy during the adventure. What really sets Canopy Safari apart is the passion and pride every staff member brings. You can see it in their smiles, laughter, and the way they interact with guests. This is an experience we’ll look back on fondly for years, and if we’re lucky enough to return to this region of Costa Rica, we would absolutely rebook without hesitation. An unforgettable experience from start to finish.

My family and I had a really good time at the park. It's a combination of hiking, zip lining, and drops. The lines were high and fast over the jungle. I would recommend

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Roy and crew have such great personalities, making my husband and I feel at ease! We felt safe and comfortable, and had the most enjoyable time, laughing and joking along the way. We learned about the region, saw a toucan and poison dart frogs, and appreciated the variety of ziplining-- including a straight drop, standard (where they show you how to turn upside down, if you wish), superman/horizontal style, and Tarzan/swinging! The lunch of local Costa Rican cuisine, handmade on site hit the spot, and the snake and butterfly exhibits were neat too, only adding to the experience!

My husband and I had an amazing day ziplining, rappelling and jungle swinging through the rainforest with amazing guides, Roy, Dennis and Dylan, who not only kept us super safe, they were entertaining and were so attentive to wildlife to show us frogs, scorpions, anteaters, turtles, water buffalo, Tiger heron, rainbow eucalyptus, etc, in addition to the crocodiles, snakes and butterfly garden. My husband does have some fear of heights, and they put him at ease with safety measures and humor! The setting was absolutely beautiful, and fruit and lunch were really delicious. Dylan took some amazing photos and videos which were well worth the money! Felix picked us up from our hotel and transported us safely to and from, as well as keeping an eye out for unique flora and fauna to show us along the way. Overall, an awesome adventure! I highly recommend Canopy Safari!

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Me and my family (6 although) had a great experience rafting down the “savage” river! Christopher (aka Flippy) was a great personality during the drive there. Sharing his knowledge and humor along the way. We had Kenny as a rafting guide. Super fun and nice guy who had patience with my kids. Very knowledgeable about everything we saw and asked. The rafting was great fun for all of us (rating 2-3 rapids). Never scary or dangerous. The mid break hike leading to a waterfall was refreshing and very beautiful. They had snacks ready for us (pineapple, mango, papaya, cookies, and water) when we were done. They literally do nearly all the work. You just listen and paddle when they tell you too. Great drive (Diego the driver did great) to the launch and back to the lunch spot. The food at the hotel…hostel? Was really good. I recommend the tuna. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

This was the best adventure for our family and friends ages 7, 8, 9, 11, 13 and adults. The guides are amazing and while it is quite the adventure, I felt very safe. Would give it 10 stars if I could.

Canopy Safari was great. My wife was very nervous about the ziplining, but the guides made her comfortable and she had a great time. I was interested in wildlife and the guides stopped to point out poison dart frogs, snakes and birds and help take pictures. Safety was excellent. Lunch was a very good traditional Costa Rican specialty. The butterfly garden at the site was very interesting. Highly recommended!
